Caitlin's Creations Blog bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

A little bit about me: YES, I look about 16, but I am actually 26.  Being in my mid 20s means I can really relate to my brides, being close to most of their ages.  I was a bride myself on 07/07/07, so I still have all that wedding planning fresh in my mind, and I definatley remember all the fun and headaches that went with it.  I absolutely LOVE weddings, which really helps me to have fun with what I do (seriously, I watch way too many wedding reality shows on the Style channel)--I just don't think you can handle the wedding crowd without genuinely loving every aspect.  It's stressful, crazy, and sometimes tedious (ok, I'll admit it, even a little boring at times during a reception), so if you don't love it, you will hate it--and that's a quick recipe for a burnt-out photographer and mediocre pictures.  Again, I love what I do, and have FUN with it, and I really hope that you can see that in my work.

I love getting to know my clients.  I don't work at a desk in a cubicle because I like to learn about new things, meet new people, and hear your stories.  If we didn't click, I doubt you hired me.  I love to joke (yes, I can be a bit sarcastic) and laugh and just have a good time while I work, which means you will have a good time getting some portraits done, as well. I know, not the norm--you should be stressed and uncomfortable during a session, right?  See--told you I was sarcastic...

Anyway, I could go on, but I guess that's what posts are for.  Feel free to comment lots--I love to see what people think when I put up some new work.  Oh, and I am notorious for bad spelling, so don’t say you weren’t warned!

Samantha’s Bridals

Samantha is such a sweetheart!  I met her for the first time on the day of her Bridal shoot, as she is actually not one of my wedding clients (she is having a Cinderella themed wedding in Disney World), but she warmed up to the camera pretty quickly.  She has the cutest giggle!  The McNay was such a great setting for her portraits and I, of course, HAD to play off the Cinderella theme and do that shoe shot, haha.

Check out her session highlights in her slideshow: Samantha.

Brittney and Kenny’s theme comes together in cool designs!

Brittney and Kenny are having a Black & White, Charcoal, and Hot Pink theme for their wedding, which I loved incorporating into their beautiful stationary.  Their metallic magnet came first, with a beautiful 8×8 guestbook soon after.  We completed the pre-wedding projects with their gorgeous trifold Luxe invitations and RSVP cards in pearl cardstock, and snazzy envelopes to match.  Check out the final look of their designs!

Juila’s Dance Session

Thanks to the San Pedro Playhouse for letting us use their theater for this shoot!  Julia’s mom and I were trying so hard to find a time that work for all three of our schedules AND that we could book a theater for this shoot, so we were all ver happy to find a Sunday morning that everyone could work with.  Julei was so sweet and cooperative, even thought I had her running, jumping, and twirling all over the place for the first half of the shoot.  I told her she would be tired, but it would be worth it!  I’m excited to share these with them. :)

Some adorable pooches: Bailey and Mocha

These two adorable dogs were my latest portrait subjects.  Bailey and Mocha were definitely on opposite ends of the spectrum in personality, so it was interesting to get them both interested in taking pictures, haha.  Mocha was PLAY PLAY PLAY and Bailey just wanted to be left alone with a bag of treats, but they ended up posing pretty well for their session and we got some beautiful shots at the McNay.  :)

Guestbooks and Engagement books

A very cute 8×8 guestbook for Kathy and Mark.  I incorporated their color scheme of golden yellow, plum, and charcoal into parts of the book, with a simple theme that really enhanced each image.

Every once in a while I get a couple who doesn’t like the idea of their lovely guestbook being defaced by a bunch of writing, haha.  In those cases, we simply make their guestbook into and engagement book–essentially designing without all the spaces.  Allison and Oren decided on an Engagement book over a Guestbook, and went with a 7×10.5 vertical book for the final look.
