Ashlee and Joaquin Lara 06.12.10

I really love this couple!  Ashlee became a web stalker before even meeting me, and we hit it off the second we started chatting at a little starbucks a week before their engagement session.  Ashlee’s mom was a little nervous about my skills when she saw me (I do look like a high school kid, after all), but was soon assured during that first meeting, and very confident after seeing the engagement portraits a week later.  I have had SO MUCH FUN working with these two over the past year!  They are so great together, and really know how to laugh.  Joaquin has a daughter, Tori, and I have also had a chance to get to know her and see how amazingly Ashlee and Tori get along–what a great family :).  I have been so excited for the wedding–every time Ashlee and I would meet at the office (and we saw each other quite a bit), we would stay over way past normal appointment times chatting about the wedding (among other things).  Ashlee had such a beautiful vision of the day, and it was so nice to see it all in action!  The ceremony and reception was held at the beautiful Serengeti Resort in Bergheim, Texas.  They chose to have their special meeting before the ceremony and get portraits done early.  That gave us a chance to go into the reserve and do a few shots near the giraffe–little did we know we would almost get attacked by some very aggressive Ostriches!  Yikes–that was pretty scary…We were given a golf cart and told how to get there, but no one knew the Ostriches would start circling us as soon as we arrived and started walking towards the giraffe munching away on his tree.  Ashlee and I are both pretty freaked out by birds as it is, so that was NOT fun!  To top it off, the very overly friendy camel came by to push us around.  Luckily, we were able to escape when some resort hands came to our rescue and drove them all off with their won golf carts.  I think we’ll all be laughing over it next time we meet!

Other than the annimal channel special, the day was absolutely beautiful and I think everyone really got to enjoy themselves.  They didn’t spare any details, and I had a blast running around and capturing everything.  Congrats, Ashlee and Joaquin!  I can’t wait to get together and start working on your album!

Here is a slideshow I just created for these two:  Ashlee and Joaquin 03.12.10.

Caitlyn, I’m cracking up over your blog… I had an engagement session there last year, and got bit by that camel! From that point on, they were affectionately known as the “camel bite couple”! And I thought the ostriches were going to ravage me!!

LOL! How did we miss that for so long? I must have hit the 3 instead of the 6 on my number pad and was so exited to get the post up that I never noticed. :)
