What a sweet couple and what a perfect wedding day! Marisol and John were married in a beautiful, sweet ceremony at St Mary Magdalen Church…with lots of secret smiles and looks of love between them when they thought no one was looking! I loved seeing how totally in love and perfectly in sync these two were as they took this big step together. And I have to give a shout out to their priest, who obviously likes weddings and made it a fun and extra sweet service! After the two officially became husband and wife, we set out for Mission San Jose. Now, I normally HATE it when people have large gaps between the ceremony and reception, but in this case, Marisol and John had JUST enough of a gap for people to take it easy and chill out a bit between the two, without making it a crazy all-day marathon for guests. And it also gave us the perfect amount of time to go somewhere cool (like Mission San Jose) for portraits! We managed to get some gorgeous shots of the couple and their wedding without any rain to ruin our plans, even though the clouds looked a little threatening (I think my Mission curse is finally broken!!). I am so in love with how these turned out–a gorgeous backdrop and a stress-free party that is in no rush–a perfect combo!! Next, it was off to San Fernando Hall (which I found out is totally different from San Fernando Cathedral and the attached buildings) for a gorgeous bright, white reception. Splashes of green adorned each table, a fun Pinata was on hand for guests to leave messages inside for the couple to open on their anniversary, and Nothing Bundt Cakes perfumed the air with the promise of dessert. My favorite Mariachi band was there to entertain everyone through dinner, and Marisol surprised everyone with a super fun choreographed father-daughter dance. The fun continued on with a fast-paced Snake Dance and the party was still going strong as night set in. Of course, everything was made even better (and much smoother that it would have been otherwise, I found out later) by the coordination skills of the awesome Keri Clark! It was an awesome day and I am so excited to begin working on Marisol and John’s wedding album with them in the next few weeks!
Marisol and John also had one of my Portrait Stations at the reception. Here are a handful of my favorites from the night:
